2025 Legislative Breakfast and Educational Events

Dear Leaders of Non-Public Schools,

Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter. We know your schedules are incredibly busy, and we truly appreciate your dedication to your schools and students.

We are grateful for the opportunity to advocate on behalf of all non-public schools in New Mexico through the New Mexico Association of Non-Public Schools (NMANS). We also appreciate your participation in our recent survey, which has helped us identify the key topics that would be most beneficial for NMANS to address. The upcoming Legislative Breakfast is one of the outcomes of this collective input, and we hope it provides valuable opportunities for connection and collaboration. This event is open to all non-public school leaders and offers a great space to strengthen relationships with one another and with our legislators.

One of NMANS' strengths is the incredible diversity of schools we represent. Because of this, we promote opportunities that may be relevant for some schools, but not necessarily all. That said, we're happy to share events and opportunities that any of our schools may benefit from. For example, Christian school leaders might be interested in the summit being hosted by the Herzog Foundation, which is detailed below.

Please note that this message is being sent to both NMANS member schools and non-member schools alike, as we want to ensure no school misses out on important opportunities. However, we encourage you to consider joining the 17 schools that are already supporting NMANS through their membership fees. You can calculate the minimal cost for membership using this form.

Important Upcoming Events

1. National School Choice Week – January 26–February 1

Did you know National School Choice Week is just around the corner? We encourage you to explore the New Mexico School Choice Week Event Calendar to learn about events happening statewide. Some schools are even planning field trips to the Capitol to promote School Choice Week. If you haven't participated this year, now is the time to start planning for next year. Remember, promoting school choice should be a year-round effort!

2. NMANS Legislative Breakfast – February 21

We are excited to invite you to NMANS' first annual Legislative Breakfast at the Capitol Building on Friday, February 21. As we navigate current and potential legislation impacting private schools, it's vital that we build relationships with our elected officials. This free event is an excellent opportunity to meet your legislators, thank them for their work, and discuss how they can support your school. Have you met your representatives or senators? This is a great chance to start or continue that conversation.

3. Herzog Foundation Christian School Summit – March 27

The Herzog Foundation is hosting a summit for Christian school leaders at the Albuquerque Sheraton Uptown Hotel on March 27. This free event includes both breakfast and lunch, and offers a great opportunity for you to network with other Christian heads of school, discuss relevant topics pertaining to leading Christian Education in 2025, and allow you to hear more about the many, free resources available to your school from the Herzog Foundation.
